An Assortment of Tidbits

Already I’m starting to love Twitter. If you want to follow me, find me here. There are a lot of cool people worth following, too. I tried putting a widget in the sidebar, but every time I tried to save it, it deleted half the code, and wouldn’t show up. It may need a bit of fiddling.

My computer is burning really hot. It often does. I love it to death, but come on Apple, use a fucking fan. Also, it spits out most DVDs and CDs I put in, and it’s getting worse. Oddly, any American DVDs I’ve put in (well, only one, but still) have worked fine. I wonder if there’s a relationship there?

My iPhone decided to die this morning. Well, less of the dying and more of the demonic possession, but I have successfully exorcised it. It is now resting, and recovering its former self from the netherworld. It’s taken over an hour and still going. Yay.

I had an idea the other day, that I think might be worth exploring. I love both blogging, and writing fiction. I could add those two together, and write a story in blog form. That is, write a little bit each time, maybe organise a semi regular update schedule, not unlike a comic. But instead of images, it would be the next part of the story. Would anyone want to read it? I suppose that would depend on the content.

For blogging, I see three main options. Blogger.com, Google owned. I used to use it, but when I discovered WordPress, I moved and was immediately infatuated. WordPress, obviously. And TypePad.

WordPress is my favourite, by far. Unfortunately, WordPress and advertising don’t get along. And I would very much like to include advertising in a project like this, try and earn a little money from it. I mean, webcomic artists can do it, so why can’t I? So WordPress is out…

TypePad is probably the best service available, but it’s not free. And I’m not so keen on paying when it doesn’t provide any significant step up from either Blogger or WordPress. So TypePad is out.

Blogger is basic. Very, very basic. It seems so unprofessional, so unrefined, so crude. On the other hand, it is both free, and has very easy integration with AdSense, as both are Google owned. And I am very much a Google whore (they had better release Chrome for Mac soon, or else…). If anyone knows of a more appropriate service, I would love to hear about it. Otherwise, I’ll probably stick with Blogger.

So yeah, that was just an idea. Also, now that I have some time to myself again, I can finally get back to preparing both my comic and my novel, so you should be hearing more about them soon.

The new Doctor was announced recently. On a purely aesthetic basis, I approve, though that counts for shit if he can’t actually act the character. And he has some really big shoes to fill.

And I think that’s all for now. I have to go tend to my wounded iPhone, and nurse it back to health.

  1. it will be interesting to see if Chrome can get as much market share as Firefox; for now they seem to have leveled off…
