Takes One to Know One

Speaking of Penny Arcade, I purchased their game, On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode 1 yesterday. Apart from being an unexpectedly enjoyable and humorous experience, and a generally great game (so far), it has moved Penny Arcade even closer to being the greatest discovery of my life. Not only do their comics inspire me, but game design is something that has interested me for a long time (though I never seriously considered it before a couple of months ago), and I had never made the connection between Penny Arcade and my own plans. But there they are, a comic strip and game creator. And I think I mentioned previously that the creators really click with my way of thinking. If it turned out Tycho was planning to write a fantasy adventure novel, I think I would freak out a little bit.
Actually, they did do a strip about that, but as a joke, and he never wrote it. Though they did make a wiki for fans to write it. Which they did. And I haven’t read.
I’ll review the game when I’ve played more of it, but it’s definitely looking positive right now.
More KotOR!

So, they’ve finally announced the next KotOR game, which, predictably enough, will be an MMO. There’s no bigger cash cow than an MMO. Except maybe a Star Wars MMO.
Still, the KotOR games were brilliant, and the Star Wars universe is one of the few that I really think could work in an MMO. So, I’m not too bummed.
I haven’t actually played any MMOs before, mostly due to lack of interest. WoW, the big one, really doesn’t appeal to me. I was vaguely interested in WAR, but it wasn’t worth investing in a PC just to play it. The others don’t even rate a mention. But this, I will probably play, though maybe not right away.
The official website is here:
Some good information can be found here:

There really isn’t a lot of information right now though. It’s set 300 years after KotOR, 3600 years before the first movie. You can choose either Galactic Republic or Sith Empire, and either Dark Side or Light Side within each. You can have a companion, and HK 47 has been hinted at quite strongly. Jedi won’t be the only classes, and other classes will obviously have to be able to deal with Jedi, so they won’t be all powerful.
So, yeah, that’s all the info I’ve got right now. I am very excited about this though. I’ve been waiting for a new KotOR release. I’d still rather a new single player release, but this is almost as good.

I’ve made life easy for you! Just click the lowest link in the sidebar, the “Subscribe in a reader” one. Then you’ll never have to check when I’ve posted, you’ll find out automatically. I did mention the wonderful world of rss before, but this makes it easier for me to track how many people actually subscribe. It’d be great if you could all use it. Thanks!
In other news, I’ve had a major breakthrough with my ideas for the sequel to RoB. Trust me, it’ll be genius. But also very different. I can’t wait to write it!
Finally, my throat hurts, and I can’t talk properly. Too much shouting.
Just in case you were getting comfortable

Guess what? I found something new again! So, for the second time, I’m packing up, and shipping out. Well, that’s not strictly true. I’m trying out Apple’s MobileMe service, and it includes hosting of my own site! Only an iWeb site, but a site nonetheless. So, go check it out! It’s still largely in progress, but we’re (and by we I mean me) working on it. Eventually, it’ll even have my own pictures! Maybe.
So, yeah, here’s the link:

Saw The Living End live last night. They played a lot of new stuff, and a lot of old stuff. It was awesome. They put on a great show in a great venue, and damn, but he’s hot. My two favourite moments were when he (their lead singer is the he by the way) got up on the double bass and belted out a massive guitar solo whilst balancing on it, and when he managed another solo with a beer bottle in his hands. He may have even been using it to play. I was too far away to be sure.
Also, some woman I served today told me she was fed up with men. It seemed like an odd thing to say to a male, so it’s possible she’s another in the list of people who I confuse. Or, she was just being a bitch. Either way, I laughed.

Yay, just bought myself an Xbox 360! Yes, only a few months after buying a Wii. Deal with it.
Compared to the Wii, it’s HUGE, but that’s ok, we have spare room cos we can’t afford anything else. I’ve only got Bblivion so far (It was cheap) but there’s a lot of games I’ll finally be able to try out, which is exciting. And I am really psyched for Mirror’s Edge. It looks AWESOME.
Check out her ninja skills!

It occurred to me recently, that while I spend far too much time on the internet, a lot of you probably don’t. So, I thought I’d take a moment out of my busy schedule to explain to you the wonder and glory of RSS. If you already know about it and use it, read no further. It’s not exactly complicated stuff, but I am amazed every day by the number of people who haven’t heard about it. So, excuse me for stating the obvious to all you net junkies.
RSS basically keeps a tab on when a site updates, and lets you know, instead of you having to check. For example, instead of you checking this blog every so often to see if I’ve updated (and I usually have), it will inform you every time that I do. How easy is that?
To get RSS updates for a site, you just click the RSS button that’s usually found in the URL bar of your browser. It’s usually blue, and it says RSS. Not hard to find in any browser. If you’re really technophobic, the URL bar is the box that has the address of the current site in it. The big wide one at the top of the window. Yeah.
And better, a lot of sites use RSS. News sites especially, so if you see a site with RSS in the URL bar, you’ve just saved yourself a lot of time in checking back! Most of the time, RSS feeds stay in your bookmarks, or whatever else they’re called. You can download programs dedicated to managing them if you have a lot of them, like me. (I use NetNewsWire).
So, yeah. Mostly, I just want you all to know when I update, so you can read it straight away. What do you think?
Hilarity

A few weeks ago, I stumbled across one of the funniest things I have ever seen. It kept me up all night laughing my head off.
Apparently, every year, Britain has a game show called the Big Fat Quiz of the Year. Hosted by Jimmy Carr, who is funny as fuck, it’s a must-see.
2006 starred my favourite man-love, Noel Fielding (aka Vince Noir from the Mighty Boosh), and several others, including David Walliams from Little Britain.
Noel was back in 2007, with some even funnier people, and I laughed even harder than for ‘06.
But don’t take my word for it. Here’s the first clip, I thoroughly recommend you search out the rest of them. They’re not hard to find.

So, I was thinking. My reviews and my news are two very different things, and don’t really belong together. With this in mind, I have created a new blog, dedicated just to my reviews of things. You can find it here, by typing in http://shoutingaboutnothing.wordpress.com in your URL box, or by checking my links to the right. My other updates will remain here.
